Get to Know Janie

Janie Murphy serves as a KY-KINS Family Peer Support Specialist with the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, supporting the Kentucky Kinship Resource Center (KKRC). In this role, she works directly with kinship caregivers and families navigating their caregiving roles, providing peer-based support and resource navigation to help caregivers access services, build stability, and feel more confident advocating for themselves and the children in their care.

Janie’s work focuses on supporting kinship caregivers as they navigate systems and access available supports in their communities. She takes a practical, solution-oriented approach, helping caregivers better understand resources, work through challenges, and move forward with confidence.

Janie brings a background in wellness and behavioral health to her role. She earned a certificate in Massage Therapy from Lexington Healing Arts Academy and later completed an associate’s degree in psychology from the University of the Cumberlands. Her combined educational background and lived experience inform a thoughtful, strengths-based approach to supporting families as they build stability and long-term well-being.
