Located at the Coldstream Research Campus, the University of Kentucky College of Social Work’s centers and labs serve as hubs for innovation, research and community engagement, addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing Kentucky and beyond. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, these initiatives bring together faculty, students and community partners to develop evidence-based solutions, inform policy and expand access to critical services.

The Kentucky Kinship Resource Center (KKRC) supports kinship providers through creative training, peer mentorship, and advocacy to meet their evolving needs.
The Interdisciplinary Research Center on Children and Families (IRC) advances research rooted in the lived experiences of youth and caregivers, helping to promote safety, permanency, and well-being for children and families.
The Military Behavioral Health Lab (MBH) develops and tests clinical strategies to support the mental health of active-duty, reserve, and veteran military members and their families.
The first lab of its kind, the Self-Care Lab (SCL) promotes self-care among helping professionals and works to improve working conditions through research, training, and global partnerships.
The International Institute for Sport and Behavioral Health (IISBH) promotes global collaboration to advance wellbeing and development through sport, recreation, and physical activity.
The Sport Social Work Research Lab (SSW-RL) fosters positive development and well-being through sports and physical activity.
The Suicide Prevention and Exposure Lab (SPEL) explores the impact of suicide through research on exposure, prevention, and community understanding.
