Samantha J. Bryant is a proud native Kentuckian from a small rural community in Breathitt County. As a first‑generation college graduate, her personal journey has strongly influenced her professional commitment to expanding access, equity, and opportunity in higher education.
Samantha earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from Morehead State University, where her doctoral research focused on success strategies for historically underrepresented students. Her scholarship reflects a deep dedication to understanding how institutions can better support first‑generation, low‑income, and marginalized learners as they navigate postsecondary education. Grounded in lived experience and academic inquiry, her work emphasizes practical approaches to student persistence and success.
An alumna of the federal Upward Bound program, Samantha is a passionate and lifelong advocate for TRIO programs and their transformative impact on students and communities. She remains committed to breaking down systemic barriers to college access and attainment, particularly for students who may not have traditionally seen higher education as attainable or welcoming.
Samantha has shared her research and professional insights at several regional conferences, including Eastern Kentucky University’s inaugural First‑Generation Student Conference. Her work has also been published in The Community College Enterprise, contributing to broader scholarly conversations around equity and student support in higher education.
