Get to Know Sheila

Sheila Miracle, MSW, is a seasoned higher education leader with more than 20 years of progressive experience spanning child welfare, workforce development, and academic administration. She currently serves as Assistant Director of the Training Resource Center at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, where she provides operational leadership for a large training and workforce development initiative. In this role, she oversees personnel management, operational infrastructure, contract reporting, and strategic planning while ensuring alignment with institutional and sponsor expectations.

Prior to her current position, Sheila served as Clinical Faculty at the University of Kentucky from 2016 to 2024. She demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching, combining subject matter expertise with practical, real-world application. She designs and delivers academically rigorous content that fosters critical thinking and prepares students for professional practice. Her approach emphasizes inclusive learning environments, adaptability across instructional modalities, and continuous improvement to enhance student engagement and success. She also served as the Child Welfare (CW) Prep Coordinator in 2023 and 2024, where she led workforce development efforts, directed recruitment and program operations, and mentored and coached students. Across both roles, she contributed to innovative initiatives, including the development of a child welfare virtual reality simulation project.

Earlier in her career, Sheila worked as a Training Specialist with Eastern Kentucky University in partnership with the Department of Community Based Services, where she developed and delivered statewide training for child welfare professionals. She began her career in front-line practice as a Social Service Worker II, conducting complex abuse and neglect investigations and providing supervisory leadership.

Sheila holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Western Kentucky University.
