Get to Know Tara
Tara serves as the Kinship Navigator Supervisor for the Kentucky Kinship Resource Center. She’s a passionate advocate for child welfare and kinship care, weaving her own lived experience in adoption and kinship into her work. Her team seeks to support kinship caregivers and increase placement stability. Prior to joining the Kinship Navigator team, Tara facilitated several child welfare advocacy groups for the University of Kentucky College of Social Work’s Department of Strategic Operations, including Kentucky’s Citizen Review Panels and Children’s Justice Act Task Force. Her volunteer advocacy groups focused on supporting caregivers and frontline workers across foster, adoptive, and kinship spaces as well as ensuring safety for children. Before working at the University of Kentucky, Tara assisted first-year students with their reading, writing, and college readiness at Eastern Kentucky University’s Noel Studio for Academic Creativity. As a non-traditional student, she earned her Master of Arts in English and Writing Professions from Eastern Kentucky University and her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Writing, Rhetoric, and Digital Studies from the University of Kentucky. Additionally, Tara has professional experience in writing, communication, strategic planning, leadership, training development, group facilitation, and program coordination. She intentionally brings organization, attention to detail, and efficiency to her work.
