Get to Know Brandy

Brandy Briggeman is a dedicated social work student and family mentor with the University of Kentucky and the Department for Community Based Services START team. She is committed to supporting individuals and families through a compassionate, strengths-based, and client‑centered approach, with a strong focus on trauma‑informed care, motivational interviewing, and wraparound services.

In addition to her professional and academic work, Brandy volunteers at the Daviess County Detention Center by providing AA meetings, offering a safe and supportive space for incarcerated individuals to begin exploring recovery. She actively advocates for rehabilitative possibilities by helping connect inmates with recovery centers, treatment programs, and other community supports that can promote long‑term healing and stability.

Brandy brings valuable hands‑on experience from her previous employment at Mountain Comprehensive Care Center Behavioral Health, where she served as supportive staff in a mental health setting. In this role, she gained direct experience supporting clients in crisis, observing clinical teams in action, and learning how to respond with empathy, patience, and professionalism in complex behavioral health environments.

Outside of work and school, Brandy is a proud mother of two wonderful children and enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors. She continues to grow personally and professionally as she prepares for a career centered on advocacy, empathy, and service to others.
