Bryan Back

Bryan is originally from Jackson, KY, but makes his home now in Nicholasville. He received his AA degree for Lees Junior College in Jackson, KY and attended Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, KY. Bryan started working at UK in May 2001 for the Med Center Safety, Security, and Parking Department where he handled HR, payroll, and reserved parking. He went on to work for UK Neurosurgery as a patient coordinator, PPD & Facilities Management handling HR & events, and College of Dentistry as the Director of HR & Contracting. Bryan joined the College of Social Work in December of 2021 as a Special Event Coordinator and is now the manager over facilities, logistics, and events for the college.

Bryan has served on several committees including the UK Shared Leave Committee, UK Staff Senate & the College of Social Work Staff Advisory Council. While with the UK Staff Senate, Bryan served one term as chair, one term as chair of the Internal Financial Resources Allocation Committee (IFRA) and two terms as co-chair of the UK Appreciation Day & UK Fun Night Committee.

Outside of UK, Bryan worked as a club, high school, & college soccer referee and administrator where he received several referee awards and honors. Bryan is also a musician. He has played in several regional bands and still plays bass in his church’s worship band.

Before joining UK, Bryan was a manager for several difference businesses, worked in construction/home improvement, worked as the Sports Director & Sports Anchor for a small Christian TV/radio combo station, and worked as a proofer, reporter, & photographer for Intermountain Publishing (“Jackson Times” & “Beattyville Enterprise”)
