Get to Know Emily
Emily Keller is a Northern Kentucky native and a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, having majored in both Broadcasting & Electronic Media and American Sign Language Interpretation.
Prior to coming to UK, Emily worked as a News Producer at WKYT in Lexington, Kentucky. In college, she worked at Wallingford Media Group in Richmond, first as a Radio Intern, then was later hired part-time as a Producer and Voice Talent. She was also an Editorial Intern at CityBeat Cincinnati in 2023.
During her time as a Broadcasting student at EKU, Emily was a Visuals Editor and Reporter at the Eastern Progress on campus, as well as the creator, director, and producer of her own short film, Echo. The majority of the dialogue in Echo is in American Sign Language, with three out of four characters being Deaf actors.
Her professional interests include screenwriting, sound design, producing, and directing.
Emily is also Hard-of-Hearing and is fluent in ASL.
Currently, Emily directs a weekly live video podcast with two colleagues from EKU, and is in the middle of writing a new short film.
Outside of her professional life, Emily also enjoys performing in her local theatre, photography and videography, hiking, playing guitar, writing music, painting, drawing, rollerblading, playing tennis, and spending time with her pet chickens.
