Get to Know Erin
An instructional design leader with experience across higher education, Erin currently serves as Senior Instructional Designer for the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky. In this role, she supports the design and development of web-based training for Centers & Labs programs while helping guide instructional design strategy, project workflows, and program development. Erin’s work includes establishing processes for online learning development, coordinating timelines and resources, and collaborating with stakeholders to create accessible, outcomes-focused learning experiences.
Erin’s approach to instructional design has been shaped by a progression of roles that blend hands-on development, technical support, and collaboration with faculty and subject matter experts. Prior to her current position, she worked as an instructional designer within the same college, where she developed e-learning content, managed multiple projects, and contributed to improving quality assurance and accessibility practices. Earlier experience at the University of Tennessee included supporting faculty, staff, and students in teaching and learning technologies, designing online modules and resources, and assisting with course development across a range of disciplines. Through these roles, she built a strong foundation in tools such as Canvas and Articulate 360, as well as experience in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and translating complex needs into practical, user-centered learning solutions.
Erin’s academic background reflects a strong commitment to excellence and interdisciplinary expertise. She holds a PhD in Education and an MS in Education in Instructional Design & Technology from the University of Tennessee, along with graduate certificates in Evaluation, Statistics & Measurement and Online Teaching & Learning. Their educational foundation further includes degrees in web/graphic design, fine arts, art history, Spanish and business administration, as well as multiple certifications in web design and digital technologies.
Erin’s work has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Travis Hawk Fellowship for Academic Excellence, Leadership Award from AIGA Knoxville, Outstanding Graduate Research and Service Award and multiple other distinguished awards for research, service, academic achievement, photography and fine art.
