John Lewis
John has worked in Social Services through various roles since 2009. He worked for the Department of Community Based Services (DCBS), in the Division of Service Regions with Protection and Permanency, from 2010 until December 2022, when he accepted the role of START (Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Team) Director with College of Social Work. He started working for START, specifically, in 2012. Within START, he began as a frontline START Social Worker, later becoming a START Supervisor, in 2017. As the START Director, he provides programmatic oversight of the START program with the strategic planning, implementation, evaluation, and development of the START model across Kentucky. Key duties include ensuring program fidelity to the START Evidence-Based Practice Model, program expansion across Kentucky, and providing supervision to all START staff positions. Additionally, he serves as part of the DCBS Commissioner’s Team, ensuring high level collaboration with START Program partners.
