Get to Know Matthew

Dr. Matt Moore is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs for the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. He earned his BA from Hanover College and his MSW and Ph.D. from Indiana University. Dr. Moore’s primary research interest is addressing the psychosocial risks associated with athletic participation at the college and professional level. Dr. Moore is the Co-Founder of the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, founder and editor of the Sport Social Work Journal, and Co-Director of the International Institute for Sport and Behavioral Health. Dr. Moore has helped to successfully launch the first DSW Concentration on Sport Social Work and the first graduate Sport Social Work Certificate. He has previous experience as a college athlete and nearly two decades of professional tennis coaching at the high school and collegiate levels.
