Get to Know Robyn
Dr. Napier currently serves as full-time Clinical Faculty at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, where she has contributed as a part-time instructor since 2011. Her teaching emphasizes preparing future social workers and behavioral health clinicians (LCSW’s) for real-world practice through evidence-based and integrative approaches.
Dr. Robyn Napier, DBH, LCSW, MSSW brings over 26 years of social work experience, with more than a decade specializing in integrated behavioral health, working in mental health, treating persons for conditions described in the DSM IV-TR within a rural primary care setting. Through an integrated approach to care, the collaboration she maintained with physicians and community organizations during her clinical practice expanded access to mental health care, particularly in the underserved area and the counties within and among the Eastern Kentucky region.
Her clinical expertise includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Brief Therapy. Her areas of clinical interest include mood disorders, suicidality prevention, chronic pain, substance use disorders, ADHD, autism, childhood trauma, and co-occurring physical and behavioral health conditions.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Napier maintains providing professional trainings and continuing education a priority and clinical supervision for Certified Social Workers (CSWs). She has also participated in research initiatives throughout her clinical career, advancing integrated behavioral health. Current research focus is on ADHD in Adulthood and impact on relationships.
